Seven habits that keep a crypto wallet safe

Oct 9, 2026 · 0dex.news staff

Most losses come from phishing and leaked recovery phrases, not from broken cryptography. Simple habits prevent most of them.

Write your recovery phrase on paper or metal and keep it offline. Never type it into a website, a chat or a 'support' form. Legitimate wallet support will never ask for it.

Bookmark the sites you use and open them from the bookmark, not from search ads or links in messages. Phishing pages often copy real designs exactly.

Use a hardware wallet for larger amounts, and keep only spending money in a hot wallet on your phone or browser.

Check addresses carefully before sending, and send a small test transaction first when the amount is significant. Review token approvals periodically and revoke the ones you no longer need. Finally, keep your devices updated, and be suspicious of any offer that sounds too good to be true.
